A new introduction, this is an unusual shrub or small tree with reddish-bronze fresh leaves turning dark green as they age later in summer. The autumn colour is excellent, with the leaves turning shades of yellow, orange or red before they fall.

The flowers have chocolate coloured buds, opening into lovely Parrotia like, yellow & orange flowers in early spring at a similar time of year to Hamamelis (Witch Hazel).
