Sorbus

Mainly small to medium sized trees but also some shrubs. Generally very hardy and suitable for all sites, even the most exposed positions in any except shallow, chalky soils. Generally Sorbus dislike wet ground and should not be planted in areas prone to water-logging.

There are many superb cultivars. Amongst them are some of our best trees for autumn colour and berries. Generous watering when young after planting in particularly dry conditions is beneficial.
