A low growing, prostrate species of willow with lovely catkins which can be found growing in the wild on the alpine slopes of Hokkaido, Japan. Salix nakamurana var yezoalpina has attractive, long stalked, glossy leaves and large upright catkins in spring.

This is similar to Salix subopposita but with a wider spread, slightly lower and flatter habit, larger leaves and more upright catkins. Salix nakamurana var yezoalpina is an excellent choice for a ground cover plant and is suitable for even the smallest of gardens.
