Ruscus colchicus is an unusual, slow growing evergreen spreading shrub with glossy dark green, flattened, spineless leaves. Established plants greenish flowers followed by red fruit.

Best in light dappled to partial shade in moist but well drained soil. Eye-catching when underplanted under taller trees.
