(Golden-leaved Bramble) A handsome and prickly briar with bright golden leaves all summer and in winter, dazzling, chalky white arching stems.

Established plants have small clusters of pink flowers on the branches in summer.

The lovely golden yellow foliage makes this an eye-catching ornamental plant in the summer and the white stems give fantastic winter interest.

Can be grown in a large container.

  • Flower Colour: Pale Pink
  • Rate of Growth: Vigorous.
  • Habit: Rubus cockburnianus 'Golden Vale' grows to be a medium sized densely branching shrub if left unpruned.
    • Height: 2.5 m (8 ft) or up to 1.5 m (5 ft) if pruned yearly.
    • Spread: 2.5 m (8 ft)
  • Notes: Rubus cockburnianus 'Golden Vale' makes an effective garden plant if pruned back to 30 cm (1 ft) above the ground each spring each year or every two years before coming into leaf. This reduces the end size and encourages it to produce vigorous upright stems with particularly good winter stem colour.
