Parrotiopsis jacquemontiana is a rare upright large shrub with clusters of yellow flowers in spring surrounded by eye-catching white bracts. The leaves are dark green (similar to those of a Parrotia in appearance hence the name) and deeply veined, turning shades of yellow before falling in autumn.

Best display of flowers will generally be seen if planted in a position with sun or light, dappled shade with some shelter from cold winds.
