Nyssa sinensis 'Jim Russell'

An unusual and eye-catching small, upright, deciduous tree once established with narrow and ovate, dark green leaves in Spring and summer which turn vivid shades of gold orange or red (depending on soil pH)

Usually best autumn colour once established if planted in a sunny position with some shelter from strong winds. More vibrant autumn colours on lime free or acid soil.

• Soil: Moist or well drained, fertile soil. Nyssa sinensis 'Jim Russell' requires a reasonably acid soil to produce its most vivid autumn colour and grow well.
• Hardiness: Reasonably hardy. Nyssa sinensis 'Jim Russell' appreciates shelter from cold winter winds. Not suitable for cold, exposed areas.
