New to us, this is a handsome compact, semi-evergreen shrub with deeply divided coppery-pink young leaves which gradually turn to dark green in summer.
Established plants develop clusters of dainty white flowers in summer followed by red berries in autumn once established.
Superb in sun or some shade and grows very well in a large container.
- Position: Full sun or light, dappled shade.
- Soil: Moist, well drained, fertile soil. Not suitable for waterlogged areas.
- Hardiness: Reasonably hardy. Nandina domestica 'Magical Sunrise' requires protection from cold winter winds and may loose its leaves in a severe winter.
- Flowering Period: June - July.
- Flower Colour: White
- Rate of Growth: Moderate.
- Habit: Nandina domestica 'Magical Sunrise' grows to be a small to medium sized, upright shrub.
