Hydrangea integrifolia is an unusual evergreen climbing plant native to parts of the far East, including Taiwan that has lush, dark green leaves and lacy white flower clusters in summer once established. The flower buds look like huge rounded, white pearls as they develop before opening out. Leaves in spring may be tinted bronze in colour.

Best in a sheltered position against a wall or fence. Does very well in a shady position

  • Position: Sheltered in full sun or shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Somewhat hardy. More suitable for mild parts of the Uk and not a good choice for cold, exposed areas. Avoid cold, windy positions.
  • Flowering Period: June - July.
  • Flower Colour: White
  • Rate of Growth: Slow until established then moderate.
  • Habit: Hydrangea integrifolia grows to be a medium sized, self-clinging climbing plant.
    • Height: up to 3 - 4 m (13 - 16 ft) - possibly taller in mild, warm areas.
    • Spread: 3 m (10 ft)
  • Notes: Although native to a different part of the world, this is similar in appearance to Hydrangea seemanii
