A deciduous medium sized to large shrub native to the USA and Canada, which has handsome silvery-green summer leaves and masses of fragrant creamy-yellow flowers in early summer.

Once established, these flowers are followed by stunning silver, egg-shaped fruit, sometimes as large as marbles!

Most suitable for a sunny, well drained position with some shelter from wind.

  • Position: Full sun.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil. Elaeagnus 'Quicksilver' is reasonably drought resistant, but dislikes and will not grow well in shallow, chalky soils. Avoid waterlogged soil!
  • Hardiness: Reasonably hardy. Requires shelter from strong wind to grow well in exposed areas.
  • Flowering Period: May.
  • Flower Colour: Creamy yellow-white
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Medium sized branching shrub.
    • Height: 2.5 - 3 m (8 - 10 ft).
