Chaenomeles speciosa 'Red Kimono'

New to us, this is a stunning small to medium sized deciduous shrub which is covered with vivid scarlet flowers in late winter or early spring once established. The summer leaves are bright green in colour turning yellow and bronze before falling in autumn.

Although tolerant of some shade this will flower best in a position with plenty of sun.
