Acer palmatum 'Shaina'

A compact maple, Acer palmatum 'Shaina' has showy, deeply cut, dark maroon leaves which are clumped together on the branches to give this shrub a fascinating tufted appearance once established. The maroon leaves turn scarlet in autumn before falling to the ground.

Lovely small to medium sized shrub ideal for planting in a low border or in a large tub or container.

• Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
• Hardiness: Hardy. Acer palmatum 'Shaina' will grow best when planted in an area sheltered from strong winds.
• Rate of Growth: Slow.

• Notes: Acer palmatum 'Shaina' was discovered as a witches broom mutation growing on another Japanese maple cultivar (Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood')
